Cavalier has developed three strategic action plans to identify priorities and set targets and timelines towards environmental protection. Within our Waste Reduction Strategy we focus on the hierarchy of reduce, recycle, recover and only as a last resort, dispose. We are determined to reach our target of zero waste to landfill by 2030.
Through high-impact projects, we have achieved targets to reduce water usage, and have set more goals to reuse, harvest and recycle water as part of our Water Conservation Strategy and its objectives.
Through our Carbon Footprint and Energy Strategy we aim to improve efficiency, eliminate waste and generate renewable energy through alternative sources.
Animal welfare programs are implemented on farms, during transit and at on-site handling facilities to ensure the most humane treatment possible at all our facilities.
We maintain memberships to value-chain organizations, ethical trade organizations and others, including The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Red Meat Abattoir Association (RMAA), AgriSA, and the Red Meat Industry Forum.
